Day 1:    Arrival in Oviedo

Today you arrive in Asturias, in time to visit the Gothic Cathedral devoted to San Salvador, THE historic holy site where the Camino begins. This evening you’ll enjoy the city’s lively atmosphere, charming lanes in the old town and traditional cider houses. 

Day 2:    Oviedo - Avilés (26 km / 13 mi)

Starting in Oviedo, your pilgrimage takes you to the coastal city of Avilés. As you leave the capital of Asturias behind, walking on the mount Naranco foothills, you'll experience a mix of urban and rural landscapes. Avilés welcomes you with its historical quite impressive old town. 

Challenge: ascend 370, descent 590m.

Day 3:    Avilés - Muros del Nalón (23 km / 14.5 mi)

Your journey continues with this walk along the coastline, arriving in Muros de Nalón. The path offers serene views of the sea and traditional Asturian architecture. The nicest views will be as you arrive to the banks of the Nalón River, where the San Martín Castle is guarding the Camino from its promontory. 

Challenge: 23km / 14.5mi , ascent 560m, descent 450m.

Day 4:    Muros del Nalón - Soto de Luiña (15 km / 9.5 mi)

Leaving Muros de Nalón, you'll venture through picturesque Asturian countryside on your way to Soto de Luiña on this short route with frequent but moderate slopes, and with only one approach to the coast in la Concha de Artedo. The lush landscapes and quiet trails provide a sense of peace and connection with nature. 

Challenge: 15km / 9.5mi, ascent 430m, descend 540m.

Day 5:    Soto de Luiña - Cadavedo (19 km / 12 mi)

Taking the Camín Real de Las Ballotas (by the coast), we are facing one of the most beautiful stages of the entire Camino del Norte. This coastal route has views over the cliffs, with access to beaches, well signposted and with services, eventually reaching the charming village of Cadavedo, known for its stunning beaches and tranquil atmosphere. 

Challenge: 19km / 12mi, ascent 580m, descent 510m.
 

Day 6:    Cadavedo - Luarca (15 km 9.5 mi)

Placid, pleasant and short stage, the only obstacle is the climb from the Canero, there are 140 meters of elevation gain in 1.6 km. In the final stretch, the arrival in Luarca gives you some beautiful views of the picturesque town. This coastal gem is celebrated for its white-washed buildings, fishing harbor, and natural beauty. Luarca invites you to explore its maritime history and breathtaking scenery. 

Challenge: 15km / 9.5mi, ascent 220m, descent 300m.

Day 7:    Luarca - Navia (20 km / 12.5 mi)

Today you will advance away from the coast, along comfortable tracks and roads, with moderate gradients, passing through numerous towns with services, through rolling hills and peaceful woodlands before arriving the coastal town of Navia

Challenge: 20km / 12.5 mi, ascent 360m, descent 350m.

Day 8:    Navia - Tapia de Casariego (21 km / 13 mi)

Your journey unfolds along the coast as you head to Tapia. The path provides stunning views of the sea and serene beaches. Tapia, a coastal village known for its fishing traditions, with its charming little harbour, offers a tranquil respite for pilgrims. 

Challenge: 21km / 13 mi, ascent 280m, descent 280m.

Day 9:    Tapia de Casariego - Ribadeo (12 km / 7.5 mi)

Today you will walk through very beautiful places, always near the coast (Penarronda beach stands out) and its cliffs on this flat walk. Crossing the river Eo you will leave Asturias and will enter in Galicia, the region where Santiago is. Ribadeo, with its beautiful estuary and lively atmosphere, is a perfect place to end your Camino. 

Challenge: 12km / 7,5 mi, ascent 110m, descent 100m.

Day 10:    End of Arrangement

After breakfast your arrangement comes to an end.

If you feel like more adventure and you feel like continuing walking, you can combine this trip with the next stage of the Camino.
