Cradle of Renaissance

The “Cradle of the Renaissance” invites you to promenade along its captivating passageways, where Michelangelo and Dante once roamed, to experience the essence of Italian history and culture. Florence is considered the birthplace of the Italian language and you are sure to enjoy an enlightening visit. Spring into the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most fascinating art galleries in the world and contemplate the masterpieces by Botticelli, amongst others. Skip along the Ponte Vecchio Bridge, shimmer at the ornately decorated Medici Chapel and gaze up at the landmark of Florence, the unmistakable Duomo.
Finally, treat yourself with a Tuscan excursion a delightful nearby town.

Day 1: Arrival in Florence

Arrive in Florence and take a moment to breathe the air of the Renaissance and the sweet scent of locally-produced red wine. If you arrive early you can explore Florence down through one of the city walks or just relax with a cappuccino at one of the most beautiful squares. 

Challenge: 8km city walk, approx. 3,5 hours

Day 2: The Florentine masterpieces

Start the day with a visit of the world-class paintings and sculptures at the famous Uffizi Gallery, after you breeze by the long lines with a pre-booked reservation we have made for you.
In the afternoon you can choose among one of the city tours proposed. Each walk shows a different aspect of Florence. One route takes you along the outer ring of the historic centre, the main churches and monuments. Another one remains closer around the old core including the Palazzo Vecchio and Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, whose Dome was built between 1418 and 1436 by Filippo Brunelleschi. Or you can opt for a walk along the green banks of the Arno River or a climb up to the panoramic Piazzale Michelangelo.

Day 3: Optional day visits and walks in Greve in Chianti

After breakfast, take the local bus to Greve in Chianti, a rustic market village in the capital of the Chianti wine producing region. Visit the winery museum and taste over 50 different great Chianti wines. In the afternoon walk on a typical “strada bianca” that climbs to the ridge behind Greve, up to a formidable fortress overlooking the medieval village of Montefioralle.

Challenge: 5 km, 300m ascent, 300m descent

Day 3: Optional walks in San Gimignano

After breakfast, take the local bus (change in Poggibonsi) to the medieval famous town of San Gimignano, listed by the Unesco Heritage for its unmistakable tower skyline. Enjoy a visit in town and a walk in its surrounding countryside, then return to Florence with the local bus.

Challenge: 12,4km, 350m ascent, 350m descent

Day 3: Optional walk from Settignano to Fiesole

Travel uphill on a twenty-five minute local city bus ride to the village of Settignano where the walk begins. During the walk you have magnificent views of cypress trees, olive groves, Renaissance villas and the whole city of Florence at your feet. Stroll through the charming town of Fiesole and tour its Etruscan ruins, Roman amphitheater and Franciscan monastery.

Challenge: 8/ 16km, 3/ 6hrs.

Day 3: Optional walk or bike ride in Lucca

Lucca and a walk or bike ride on the town walls. Lucca is a charming Tuscan town, rich in history, that offers its visitors brilliant walks and bike rides along the tree-lined Renaissance walls of its perimeter. This town boasts splendid churches, gardens and a majestic bell tower. Walk along the historic Via Fillungo to Piazza Anfiteatro, a 2nd century Roman amphitheater, and take a break to enjoy the local cuisine.

Day 4: Arrivederci wonderful Florence!

Our services end after breakfast today, unless you have booked extra nights with us or have a transfer to the airport.

Getting there and back:

Florence, Pisa and Bologna airports are flown to by both major and low cost international carriers. All three airports can be easily reached by local transport, which is affordable and offers a frequent service. From Florence airport take the direct local bus to downtown. From Pisa airport, you can take either a direct train or bus to Florence. From Bologna airport take the bus to Bologna central station, then the train to Florence.


If you come with your own car, please note that the accommodation does not have a private parking lot itself but it has an agreement with a nearby garage that has to be paid on the spot. The price is about euro 25,00 per day. The hotel disposes of a valet service.
