Un viaje fascinante, recorriendo Sierra Nevada "a tu aire".
Las altas cumbres del Sur superan los 3000m. Al pie de las cimas nevadas, se encuentran los vestigios del antiguo Califato de Al Andalus, el reino de los Moros. Aquí se encuentra la espectacular belleza de la Alhambra, el encanto de los Pueblos Blancos y la magia de las Alpujarras, con sus terrazas y acequias que perduran desde épocas lejanas. La arquitectura tradicional refleja sus orígenes árabes, con pequeñas casas encaladas de tejado plano.
En la vertiente norte de la Sierra, se puede explorar una zona tan árida como atractiva - lugar de rodaje de muchas películas del oeste. Pero también está presente aquí el agua, en forma de termales que dejan su huella en el paisaje.
Los alojamientos tienen cada uno su personalidad: un pequeño hotel rural con un excelente restaurante, unas típicas cuevas con su propio baño estilo árabe, y una acogedora "casa rural" en la montaña alpujareña.
Llegada a Alhama de Granada, un bonito pueblo encalado con sus tejados de teja árabe bajo un impresionante campanario gótico. Su situación, en el borde de una profunda garganta, ofrece un entorno de lo más impactante.
A realizar: viajar a Alhama de Granada (a 42km del aeropuerto de Granada y 94km del de Málaga).
Hay varias rutas a pie que se pueden realizar en el Parque Natural de “Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama”, con sus cimas de más de 2000m, rodeadas de hermosos bosques de encina. Otra opción es la de pasar el día en Granada, a solo 50km, con el impresionante complejo árabe de la Alhambra y los jardines del Generalife. La catedral y antiguo barrio del Albaycín se suman a los monumentos a visitar.
A realizar: rutas a pie desde Alhama de Granada o visita a Granada
Hoy se viaja hacia Guadix y la zona árida de la vertiente norte de Sierra Nevada. De camino, opción de parar a visitar Granada de camino. En verano, se puede llegar en coche al alto de Pradollano, estación de esquí que ofrece espléndidas vistas panorámicas desde los 3200m. Aquí se puede realizar una ruta a pie muy bonita, un recorrido entre cumbres, viendo los verdes olivares y pueblos blancos a lo lejos.
A realizar: viajar de Alhama de Granada a Guadix (110km)
Las extrañas formaciones que se exploran hoy, incluyen verdes valles en un entorno que parece ser totalmente árido. Aquí se aprecian unos colores propios de un desierto, que se extienden por el fondo de un antiguo mar interior. Opción de realizar una ruta a pie, pasando por un verdadero oasis escondido entre unos paisajes degradados por la erosión. El alojamiento para esta noche es un fascinante complejo de casas-cueva, la base ideal para visitar esta zona.
A realizar: conocer los intrigantes paisajes del desierto
Un día de descanso hoy y la elección entre distintos itinerarios que llevarán hacia el sur de Sierra Nevada. Se puede ir vía el Puerto de la Ragua (2000m) con varias rutas entre las que elegir por los terreno de El Chullo. O bien por la Sierra de Baza, atravesando zonas vírgenes marcadas por profundas gargantas que albergan gran variedad de especies de aves. Otra ruta más larga, pero que es buena opción durante los meses de invierno, va por Tabernas – donde hace años se rodaron muchas películas del oeste.
A realizar: viajar de Guadix a Bérchules (90km)
El pueblo de Bérchules es la base perfecta para nuestras excursiones en las Alpujarras: a pie, en coche, en bici de montaña e incluso a caballo. Se tienen 2 días para explorar este entorno montañoso tan auténtico, con sus pequeños pueblos situados en pendientes pronunciados cruzados por antiguas acequias, restos de la época mora en una de las últimas zonas en rendirse a la Reconquista. Aquí se pueden realizar varias rutas circulares, desde pueblos tan emblemáticos como Trevélez, Bubion o Pórtugos, e incluso directamente desde el alojamiento, Cortijo El Paraje. Rutas en bici de montaña desde Trevelez o excursiones a caballo desde Bérchules.
A realizar: Rutas a pie desde pueblos de la Alpujarra y empezando en el mismo alojamiento.
