Details

Andalucía Cave-Dwellings

Cool indoors in the summer and warm in winter, these traditional dwellings make an ideal base for exploring Moorish Andalucia. Surprising flora and fauna in the unique Baza Natural Park. From sledding in the Sierra Nevada to swimming in the Castril River with the option of visiting old spaghetti western filming sets of Almeria. After an active day, cool off in the Hamman Arab style baths or relax at your accommodation in troglodyte style.

Day 1: Arribal in Baza

Today you arrive at your accommodation, Al Jatib, and settle into your authentic cave-dwelling for a week's adventure in Moorish style.

Challenge: Arrival in the historical town of Baza.

Day 2-7: Excursions from Baza

Cuevas Al Jatib is perfectly situated to help you make the most of a variety of options: walking, driving and sight-seeing. Nature, culture and fun. The diverse landscapes of the Sierra de Baza: pine woods, ruins of abandoned villages, Holm oak woods with centuries old trees and views from the highest peak in the park! In the Sierra de Castril, opt for a cool walk by the river or through a shady wood. Visit the enormous dam on Pantano Negratín for a paddle in the reservoir. The Natural Parks of Cazorla and Sierra Nevada, and the fascinating Alpujarras region, are also within driving distance. Of course, as a cultural visit, Granada and the Alhambra are not to be missed. You may even choose a day of fun in the desert-like surroundings of Almeria's old spaghetti western sets. So much to do, and something for every member of the family!
