Short Break on the Asturian coast

Eastern Asturias is a paradise of rushing rivers, lush green pastures, impressive sea cliffs, quiet sandy coves and spectacular limestone peaks. You'll spend 4 days here, relaxing in a peaceful rural atmoshpere with accommodation at a friendly family-run agroturismo. There are a number of activities to be enjoyed.

On Day 2 you start off with a visit to the nearby canoe rental shop in Unquera. After a short transfer up-river to Panes, you begin your adventure on the river. Armed with wetsuits, paddles and a packlunch, you'll spend 2-3 hours paddling down the pretty Deva River. Small beaches on the bank provide a place to stop along the way. In the afternoon, optional walk from Vilde to Colombres, to visit the Casa de Indianos, a beautiful colonial-style building which houses an interesting emigration museum.

The next day, you choose from a number of activities: walk to a cave with prehistoric paintings, swim and snorkel at the beach, visit the nearby ethnographic museum or enjoy the atmosphere at one of the area's many traditional "fiestas". All the while, you'll be a part of rural life, discovering the local culture in a truly unique corner of the world, between the mountains and the sea.
