Day 2: Via Appia Antica and the Archeobus

All roads lead to Rome - and from Rome. The Archeobus, an archeologically-friendly bus, takes you beyond the Roman Walls along one of the original consular roads. Step off the bus at the ancient Appian Way, where you will sense the vastness of the catacombs, wide grassy areas under which you find tunnels of burial grounds, truly a site to behold.

Challenge: Archeological discoveries and ancient visions

Day 3: A stroll through Ancient Rome

In ancient times, Rome was also a hustling, bustling city. Be pulled in by the magnetism of such historical masterpieces as the Coliseum and the Roman forum, boasting the power and might of imperial times. Stroll though the treasures of the Palatine Hill, where Augustus, Rome's first emperor, was born and marvel on your own personal discovery of past and present roman times.

Day 4: Ostia Antica and Arrivederci Roma

We suggest a late departure so you make an expedition down to Ostia Antica on the local train. Ostia was founded in the 7th century BCE and was the harbour of ancient Rome. The town is remarkably well preserved, withstanding barbaric invasions and the test of time, offering views of incredible mosaics and a Roman theatre. Bask in the essence of life under the Roman Empire. Ostia Antica is not far from Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" airport so you can take a taxi to the airport.
