All roads lead to Rome - and from Rome. The Archeobus, an archeologically-friendly bus, takes you beyond the Roman Walls along one of the original consular roads. Step off the bus at the ancient Appian Way, where you will sense the vastness of the catacombs, wide grassy areas under which you find tunnels of burial grounds, truly a site to behold.

Villages along the way: Rome
In ancient times, Rome was also a hustling, bustling city. Be pulled in by the magnetism of such historical masterpieces as the Coliseum and the Roman forum, boasting the power and might of imperial times. Stroll though the treasures of the Palatine Hill, where Augustus, Rome's first emperor, was born and marvel on your own personal discovery of past and present roman times.
Challenge: walk through captivating ancient Rome
Villages along the way: Rome
We suggest a late departure so you make an expedition down to Ostia Antica on the local train. Ostia was founded in the 7th century BCE and was the harbour of ancient Rome. The town is remarkably well preserved, withstanding barbaric invasions and the test of time, offering views of incredible mosaics and a Roman theatre. Bask in the essence of life under the Roman Empire. Ostia Antica is not far from Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" airport so you can take a taxi to the airport.
Challenge: visit an ancient Roman city, still intact

Additional night/s in Rome or any other destination in Italy
The best city to fly into is Rome, to one of its two commercial airports: Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport, major international airport, or Ciampino, smaller and serviced more by low-cost European airlines. There are regular buses and trains which go to Rome's main Termini train station, and from there you can walk or take a taxi to the hotel.
