S-cape is a member of the European association "Pan Parks" and has several destinations declared Biosphere Reserves by the "Man and the Biosphere" UNESCO program. The function of these spaces is in addition to the conservation and protection of biodiversity, also economic and human development of these areas, research, education and exchange of information between the various reserves, which form a global network.
In 1971 UNESCO began the program on Man and the Biosphere (commonly abbreviated by its acronym MaB), which aimed to reconcile the mentality and use of natural resources, outlining the current concept of development sustainable. As part of that project representative geographical locations of the different habitats in the world, encompassing both terrestrial and marine ecosystems would be selected. These places or areas are known as Biosphere Reserves (cit. Wikipedia).
